- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream, whipped to stiff peaks
- 2 cups (300g) fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar (for sauce)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup (60ml) water
- 1 prepared pound cake or angel food cake, cut into cubes
- Fresh strawberries, sliced (for garnish)
- Whipped cream (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Cheesecake Filling: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add granulated sugar and vanilla extract. Continue beating until creamy. Gently fold in the whipped heavy cream. Set aside.
- Make the Strawberry Sauce: In a saucepan, mix sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring often, until the strawberries break down and the sauce thickens (about 5-7 minutes). Remove from heat and let cool completely.
- Assemble the Trifle: Layer half of the cubed cake at the bottom of a trifle dish. Spoon half of the cheesecake filling over the cake layer and spread evenly. Top with half of the cooled strawberry sauce.
- Repeat the Layers: Add another layer of the remaining cake cubes, cheesecake filling, and strawberry sauce.
- Garnish and Chill: Top with sliced strawberries and dollops of whipped cream. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours or overnight.
- Serve and Enjoy: Scoop portions into individual bowls and enjoy the layers!
Notes
Use ripe strawberries for the best flavor. You can make the cheesecake filling a day ahead and assemble it the next day.
