- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2–4 tablespoons heavy cream
- A pinch of salt (optional)
Instructions
- Ensure your butter is at room temperature.
- Beat the softened butter on medium-high speed until pale and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Gradually add sifted powdered sugar to the butter, one cup at a time, beating on low speed until fully incorporated.
- Add the vanilla extract and 2 tablespoons of heavy cream, beating on medium speed until smooth.
- Adjust the consistency with more cream if too thick, or more powdered sugar if too thin, and continue beating until fluffy.
- Optionally, add a pinch of salt to balance sweetness.
Notes
Store leftover frosting in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Re-whip before using.
