Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup Reese’s Pieces, chopped
  • 1/4 cup Butterfinger candy bars, crushed
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, beat together the granulated sugar, eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Once baked, allow the cake to cool completely in the pan before removing it.
  8. To prepare the cheesecake filling, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
  9. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and beat until well combined.
  10. Gently fold in the chopped Reese’s Pieces and crushed Butterfinger candy bars. Set aside.
  11. For the chocolate ganache, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and heavy cream in a heatproof bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Let it cool slightly before using.
  12. To assemble the cake, slice the chocolate cake horizontally into two layers. Spread the cheesecake filling over the bottom layer. Place the second layer on top.
  13. Pour the chocolate ganache over the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
  14. Let the ganache set and garnish with extra Reese’s Pieces or Butterfinger crumbs if desired.
  15. Slice, serve, and enjoy!

Notes

Serve chilled or at room temperature, pairs well with cold milk or vanilla ice cream.
