- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
- Gradually add the flour mixture, alternating with milk, mixing until just combined.
- Divide the batter in half. Stir cocoa powder into one half.
- In the prepared pan, pour 2 tablespoons of the vanilla batter, then 2 tablespoons of the chocolate batter in the center. Repeat until all the batter is used, alternating between the two.
- Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the batter if desired for a marbled effect.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool before serving.
Notes
