- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 12 oz linguine pasta
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
- Grated parmesan cheese, for topping
- Garlic bread, for serving
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the diced onion until fully cooked.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 more minute.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, and season with salt and pepper.
- Let the sauce simmer on low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- While the sauce simmers, cook the linguine according to the package directions.
- Drain the pasta and plate it.
- Ladle the sauce generously over the linguine.
- Top with grated parmesan and fresh basil.
- Serve with garlic bread on the side.
Notes
For extra flavor, let the sauce simmer a little longer. You can use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
