A decadent dessert with a moist chocolate cake base layered with rich dark, milk, and white chocolate mousses.

- 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
- 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (120ml) boiling water or hot coffee
- 200g (7oz) dark chocolate (70% cocoa), chopped
- 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream, chilled
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 200g (7oz) milk chocolate, chopped
- 200g (7oz) white chocolate, chopped
- Chocolate shavings or curls (for garnish)
- Fresh berries (optional, for garnish)
- Edible gold leaf (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9-inch (23cm) springform pan.
- Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
- In another bowl, mix the egg, milk, oil, vanilla extract, and sugar until smooth.
- Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients, mixing well. Stir in boiling water or coffee.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
- Melt dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Beat the chilled heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- Fold the melted dark chocolate into the whipped cream until smooth.
- Repeat the melting and folding process with milk chocolate and white chocolate for their respective mousses.
- Assemble by spreading dark chocolate mousse over cooled cake, followed by milk chocolate and white chocolate mousses. Refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
- Remove the springform pan, garnish with chocolate shavings, fresh berries, or edible gold leaf, and serve chilled.
Notes
Ensure heavy cream is very cold for better whipping. Let the torte chill overnight for optimal flavor and texture.
