- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz dark chocolate (chopped)
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2–3 tbsp whole milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (melted)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch cake pans with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, sugar, and brown sugar.
- Add the softened butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix well.
- Gradually add the milk to the mixture, followed by boiling water. Stir in the semisweet, milk, and white chocolate chips.
- Pour the cake batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cakes cool completely.
- For the ganache, heat heavy cream in a saucepan until it just begins to simmer. Pour it over the chopped dark chocolate and let it sit for about a minute. Stir until it’s smooth and shiny. Let it cool.
- In another bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Add the cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Gradually mix in milk until it’s smooth. Finally, fold in the melted chocolate.
- Take the first cake layer and spread a layer of frosting on top. Drizzle with some chocolate ganache, then place the second cake layer on top.
- Frost the entire cake with the chocolate frosting.
- Drizzle any remaining ganache over the top and sprinkle with extra chocolate chips.
- Slice and enjoy this rich, chocolate-packed masterpiece!
Notes
