Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 23 bananas)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the mashed bananas, sugars, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla until well combined.
  4. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until everything is combined.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool completely.
  9. Heat the heavy cream until hot, but not boiling. Pour it over the chocolate chips and stir until smooth.
  10. Let the ganache cool slightly, then spread it over the cake.
  11. Drizzle the melted dark chocolate over the ganache for an extra chocolatey touch.
  12. Allow the cake to set for about 30 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For best flavor, use very ripe bananas. You can adjust the chocolate chips according to your taste.
