Description

A classic Italian dessert featuring layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone filling.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 24 ladyfinger cookies
  • Cocoa powder for dusting
  • Chocolate shavings (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew coffee and let it cool.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat egg yolks and sugar until light and creamy.
  3. Gently fold in mascarpone cheese until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whip heavy cream to stiff peaks and fold into the mascarpone mixture.
  5. Dip ladyfingers quickly in coffee and layer in a dish.
  6. Spread a layer of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  7. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with the mascarpone layer.
  8. Dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with chocolate shavings, if desired.
  9. Refrigerate for at least 240 minutes before serving.

Notes

Use high-quality coffee for the best flavor. Do not soak the ladyfingers too long in coffee; just a quick dip is enough.
