- 1 box (18.25 oz) brownie mix
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup brewed espresso, cooled
- 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (e.g., Kahlua)
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup caramel sauce
- Cocoa powder, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×9-inch baking pan by greasing and flouring it.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the brownie mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water until smooth.
- Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
- In another bowl, combine the cooled brewed espresso and coffee liqueur, stirring well.
- Pour half of the espresso mixture over the brownie batter, ensuring it’s evenly spread.
- Blend the mascarpone cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy, then spread this mixture over the espresso layer.
- Drizzle caramel sauce over the mascarpone layer.
- Pour the remaining brownie batter on top and drizzle the rest of the espresso mixture over it.
- Swirl the layers together using a knife or toothpick.
- Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes until mostly clean when a toothpick is inserted.
- Let the brownies cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before slicing.
- Dust the top with cocoa powder before serving.
Notes
Serve warm or at room temperature. Pair with vanilla ice cream for added delight.
