Description
An elegant Swan Cake that combines fluffy layers and creamy frosting, perfect for impressing guests at special occasions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 200g all-purpose flour
- 200g granulated sugar
- 100g unsalted butter
- 4 large eggs (about 200g)
- 10g baking powder
- 5g vanilla extract
- 100g milk
- 250g unsalted butter (for frosting)
- 500g powdered sugar
- 50g heavy cream
- 5g vanilla extract (for frosting)
- 200g fondant (for shaping swans)
- Food coloring (pink and red)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease two 8-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one by one, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Sift the flour and baking powder together, then add it to the mixture gradually, alternating with the milk.
- Divide the batter between the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool completely.
- For the frosting, beat the butter until creamy.
- Slowly add the powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla, whipping until smooth and fluffy.
- Spread the frosting evenly on the cooled cakes.
- Use food coloring to tint the fondant.
- Shape the fondant into swans and create petal-like designs.
- Attach these to the sides of the cake.
Notes
Make sure your butter is at room temperature for easy creaming. Don’t skip cooling the cakes completely before frosting; it helps set the frosting better. Work quickly with fondant as it can dry out.
