Description

A rich and decadent chocolate cake topped with a smooth, shiny chocolate ganache, perfect for any celebration.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 stick Nescafe (2 grams coffee)
  • 1 cup hot water (very hot)
  • 200 grams dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • 200 ml heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease or line two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Sift together the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt) in a large bowl.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients (milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla).
  4. Gradually mix the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Dissolve the Nescafe in hot water and mix it into the batter until smooth.
  6. Pour the batter evenly into the pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cakes to cool before transferring them to a wire rack.
  8. For the ganache, heat cream in a saucepan until it simmers.
  9. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate, let sit, and then stir until smooth.
  10. Mix in butter until fully incorporated. Pour the ganache over the cooled cake.

Notes

Store any leftover cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
