Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 stick Nescafe (2 grams coffee)
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 200 grams dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • 200 ml heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them or lining with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Dissolve the Nescafe stick in the hot water and add to the batter, mixing until smooth.
  6. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  7. For the ganache, heat heavy cream in a saucepan until it simmers.
  8. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let stand for 1-2 minutes.
  9. Stir until smooth and add butter, mixing until fully incorporated.

Notes

Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing and do not overmix the batter to maintain moisture.
