Description
A comforting casserole that combines the flavors of traditional stuffed cabbage rolls with ground beef, rice, and a rich tomato sauce, topped with melty cheese.

- 2 pounds ground beef
- 3 1/2 pounds chopped cabbage (about 1 medium head)
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 cups cooked rice
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella (or cheese of choice)
- 2 (15 oz) cans tomato sauce
- 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned; drain excess fat.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet; sauté until onions are translucent.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture with chopped cabbage, cooked rice, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and half of the cheese. Stir well to combine.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Top with the remaining cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve hot with a side of crusty bread or a fresh green salad. You can also top with sour cream or fresh herbs for extra flavor. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or frozen for up to 2-3 months.
