Description
A refreshing homemade ice cream featuring fresh strawberries, perfect for summer days.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the sliced strawberries with 1/2 cup of sugar. Gently mash with a fork and let sit for 20-30 minutes to release their natural juices.
- Blend the macerated strawberries into a smooth purée using a blender or food processor. Leave some chunks if you like a textured finish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, remaining sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the sugar is fully dissolved.
- Stir the strawberry purée into the cream mixture until completely incorporated.
- Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions (usually 20-25 minutes).
- Transfer the churned ice cream into an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
- Scoop and enjoy your creamy, homemade strawberry ice cream!
Notes
Use ripe, fresh strawberries for the best flavor. Don’t rush the maceration process to extract more juice.
