Description
A creamy and fruity homemade ice cream bursting with fresh strawberry flavor, perfect for summer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the sliced strawberries with 1/2 cup of sugar. Gently mash with a fork and let sit for 20-30 minutes to release their natural juices.
- Blend the macerated strawberries into a smooth purée using a blender or food processor, leaving some chunks if you like a textured finish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, remaining sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the sugar is fully dissolved.
- Stir the strawberry purée into the cream mixture until completely incorporated.
- Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions (usually 20-25 minutes).
- Transfer the churned ice cream into an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
- Scoop and enjoy your creamy, homemade strawberry ice cream!
Notes
Use ripe strawberries for the best flavor. If you don’t have an ice cream maker, you can freeze the mixture in a container and stir it every 30 minutes until it’s firm.
