- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the softened butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool completely.
- Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then add the powdered sugar and mix until stiff peaks form.
- Once the cake is cool, spread a layer of whipped cream on top and decorate with sliced strawberries.
- Drizzle with chocolate icing if desired before serving.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. For added flavor, consider using chocolate ganache instead of whipped cream.
