  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the softened butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Let the cake cool completely.
  6. Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then add the powdered sugar and mix until stiff peaks form.
  7. Once the cake is cool, spread a layer of whipped cream on top and decorate with sliced strawberries.
  8. Drizzle with chocolate icing if desired before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. For added flavor, consider using chocolate ganache instead of whipped cream.
