Description
A delicious dessert that combines layers of creamy cheesecake, fresh strawberries, and soft cake, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 16 oz (450g) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream, whipped to stiff peaks
- 2 cups (300g) fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar (for the sauce)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/4 cup (60ml) water
- 1 prepared pound cake or angel food cake, cut into cubes
- Fresh strawberries, sliced (for garnish)
- Whipped cream (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add granulated sugar and vanilla extract, and continue beating until creamy. Fold in the whipped heavy cream until incorporated.
- In a saucepan, combine sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, and water. Cook over medium heat until strawberries break down and sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Let cool completely.
- Layer half of the cubed cake in a trifle dish. Spoon half of the cheesecake filling over and top with half of the strawberry sauce.
- Repeat layers with the remaining cake, cheesecake filling, and strawberry sauce.
- Garnish with sliced strawberries and whipped cream. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours or overnight.
- Serve chilled by scooping into bowls or glasses.
Notes
Ensure cream cheese is at room temperature for easier mixing. Fresh strawberries give the best flavor.
