Description
A delightful dessert with a rich chocolate flavor, featuring a crispy top layer and a luscious chocolate sauce underneath.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/3 cup melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup sugar (for topping)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (for topping)
- 1 1/2 cups hot water
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cocoa. Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
- Spread the batter into a greased baking dish or ramekins.
- In another bowl, combine sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa. Sprinkle over the batter—don’t stir.
- Slowly pour hot water over the top. Do not stir—it will form its own sauce while baking.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes until the top is set and crisp, but inside remains gooey.
- Let cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm. Perfect with ice cream!
Notes
Don’t overmix the batter, use hot water to create the sauce, and feel free to experiment with flavors by adding nuts or chocolate chips.
