- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 175 °C (350 °F). Grease and flour two 9-inch pans.
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract; beat at medium speed until well combined.
- Gradually add boiling water to the batter; it will be thin, but that’s fine!
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove and cool completely.
Notes
For a richer flavor, consider adding chocolate chips to the batter. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
