Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • Black pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Smoked wood chips (e.g., hickory or applewood)
  • Water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C).
  2. Rinse the turkey and pat it dry.
  3. Rub the turkey with olive oil and season generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  4. Soak the wood chips in water for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Place the soaked wood chips in the smoker.
  6. Place the turkey in the smoker, breast side up.
  7. Smoke the turkey for approximately 30 minutes per pound or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  8. Remove the turkey from the smoker and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before carving.
