Description

A fun and tasty twist on Sloppy Joes and grilled cheese, this sandwich combines savory ground beef with gooey cheese for a delightful meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8 slices of sandwich bread
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or slices)
  • 4 tbsp butter, softened

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, cook ground beef and onions until browned. Drain excess fat. Add ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer until thickened.
  2. Butter one side of each bread slice. On the unbuttered side, layer sloppy joe mixture and cheese, topping with another slice, buttered side out.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook each sandwich until bread is golden brown and cheese is melted, about 2–3 minutes per side.
  4. Slice, stack, and enjoy warm with extra napkins!

Notes

Use fresh ground beef for the best flavor. Consider adding bell peppers or jalapeños for a fun twist.
