Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 1/2 cups sliced mushrooms
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Chopped parsley, for garnish
- 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup milk or cream

- In a bowl, mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Shape into oval patties. Sear in a skillet until browned on both sides, then remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter. Sauté onions and mushrooms until soft. Stir in flour and cook for about 1 minute. Gradually whisk in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, then let simmer until thickened.
- Return cooked steaks to the skillet, cover, and cook in gravy for 10-12 minutes.
- Boil cubed potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain and mash with butter, milk, and salt until smooth.
- Plate mashed potatoes, place steak on top, ladle mushroom gravy over it, and garnish with chopped parsley.
Notes
Ensure beef patties are evenly shaped for consistent cooking. Add red pepper flakes to the gravy for a spicy kick. Use fresh mushrooms for the best flavor.
