Description

A delightful dessert featuring soft layers and creamy frosting, perfect for special occasions and celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk, room temperature
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature (for frosting)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Pinch of salt (for frosting)
  • Chocolate balls or truffles (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and smooth the tops. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Once done, let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before turning them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. For the buttercream frosting, beat the butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating until smooth. Add heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt, and beat until light and fluffy.
  7. Place one cake layer on a serving plate, spread frosting on top, place the second layer, and frost the top and sides with a thin layer of frosting. Chill for 30 minutes.
  8. Using a piping bag, pipe rosettes on the cake and place chocolate balls around the top edge.
  9. The cake is ready to be served.

Notes

Ensure that all ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing. Do not overmix the batter.
