Description

A luxurious dessert featuring three layers of moist chocolate cake and creamy frosting, perfect for any celebration.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/3 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Hot Water
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter, softened
  • 4 cups Confectioner’s Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 2 tbsp Heavy Cream (or as needed)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 8-inch cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the sugar, eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with hot water. Mix until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until it’s light and fluffy.
  7. Gradually add the confectioner’s sugar, cocoa powder, cream, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and creamy, adjusting the consistency with more cream if needed.
  8. Place one cooled cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a generous layer of frosting over it. Repeat with the second layer and top with the third layer.
  9. Cover the entire cake with frosting and smooth it out using an offset spatula. For an extra touch, sprinkle crumbled chocolate cookies or crushed Oreos on top.
  10. Chill the cake for at least 30 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For an extra rich flavor, use high-quality cocoa powder. Make sure your cake layers are completely cooled before frosting to prevent melting.
