Description

A decadent Rich Chocolate Drip Cake with moist layers and a luscious cream filling, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup (75g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1.5 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (240ml) boiling water
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
  • 3 tbsp powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the boiling water (the batter will be thin). Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
  5. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. For the cream filling, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar together until stiff peaks form.
  8. Once the cakes are cool, place one layer on a serving plate, spread the cream filling on top, and then place the second layer on top.
  9. Decorate with chocolate decorations as desired.

Notes

Make sure your ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing. Use good quality cocoa powder for a richer flavor. Decorate with chocolate shavings, sprinkles or fresh fruit for a beautiful touch.
