Ingredients

- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup (75g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1.5 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
- 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240ml) boiling water
- 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
- 3 tbsp powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Carefully stir in boiling water until the batter is smooth.
- Pour batter evenly into prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and cool completely on wire racks.
- For the cream filling, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until medium peaks form.
- Once the cakes are cool, spread the cream filling on top of one cake layer, then place the second layer on top.
- Decorate with chocolate decorations as desired.
Notes
Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature before mixing for a smoother batter. Use high-quality cocoa powder and chocolate for the best flavor.
