Description
A classic deli favorite combining corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island dressing on marbled rye bread.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 slices marbled rye bread
- 1/2 lb sliced corned beef
- 1 cup sauerkraut, drained and patted dry
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 1/4 cup Thousand Island dressing
- 2 tbsp butter (for grilling)
Instructions
- Spread Thousand Island dressing on 4 slices of bread. Layer with corned beef, sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese. Top with the remaining slices of bread.
- Butter the outside of each sandwich. Cook them in a skillet or on a griddle over medium heat for 3–4 minutes per side, until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted.
- Cut the sandwiches diagonally and serve them warm on a plate. Enjoy with pickles or chips.
Notes
Use fresh marbled rye bread for the best flavor. Make sure to drain and pat dry the sauerkraut to avoid sogginess.
