Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup strawberries, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix together vegetable oil, buttermilk, and food coloring (if using).
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow to cool completely.
  7. For the cheesecake layer, beat cream cheese until smooth, add heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
  8. Transfer the cooled cake to a serving plate, spread the cheesecake mixture on top, and garnish with fresh strawberries.
  9. Chill before serving.
