- 250 g flour
- 300 g sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
- 2 eggs
- 240 ml buttermilk
- 120 ml vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Red food coloring
- 250 g mascarpone
- 200 g cream cheese
- 100 g powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease two round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and cocoa powder together.
- In another bowl, beat eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, vinegar, vanilla, and red food coloring.
- Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix well.
- Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes. Allow to cool.
- For the frosting, beat mascarpone, cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
- Assemble cake layers with frosting in between, then cover the cake completely with frosting.
- Sprinkle red crumbs on top for decoration.
Notes
Use room temperature ingredients for best results. Adjust red food coloring for desired shade.
