Ingredients

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, chopped cilantro
Instructions
- In a large pot, sauté the onion and garlic in a little oil over medium heat until soft.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Bring everything to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve hot, topped with shredded cheese, sour cream, and cilantro if you like.
Notes
Chili can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
