Description
A delightful treat combining rich flavors of pecans and caramel with the light crunch of rice cereal, perfect for parties and gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup pecans, chopped
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups rice cereal (like Rice Krispies)
Instructions
- Prepare the Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Toast the Pecans: In a dry skillet over medium heat, toast the chopped pecans for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until fragrant and lightly browned. Set aside.
- Make the Praline Mixture: In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, butter, corn syrup, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it boils. Allow to boil for about 3-4 minutes until it reaches a golden caramel color.
- Add Flavorings: Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and baking soda carefully as it may bubble up.
- Combine with Cereal and Pecans: In a large bowl, combine rice cereal and toasted pecans. Pour the hot praline mixture over them, stirring quickly to coat.
- Spread and Cool: Spread the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and let cool completely for about 30 minutes.
- Break into Pieces: Once cooled, break the praline crunch into bite-sized pieces and store in an airtight container.
