Description
A delightful blend of grilled cheese and pizza, perfect for lunch or dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 slices thick Italian bread or sourdough
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup pizza sauce (plus extra for dipping)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 24 slices pepperoni (or more, to taste)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix softened butter with garlic powder. Spread this mixture on one side of each bread slice.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place 4 slices of bread, buttered side down, on the skillet.
- Spread 2–3 tablespoons of pizza sauce on each slice of bread.
- Sprinkle a generous amount of mozzarella, cheddar, and Parmesan cheeses on top.
- Layer pepperoni slices over the cheese and add a pinch of Italian seasoning.
- Top with more cheese, then place the remaining bread slices on top, buttered side up.
- Cook until the bottom is golden brown and crisp, about 3–4 minutes. Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook the other side until the cheese is melted and gooey.
- Remove from heat, slice in half, and garnish with fresh basil. Serve hot with extra pizza sauce for dipping.
Notes
For a vegetarian option, skip the pepperoni and add veggies like bell peppers or mushrooms.
