- 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
- 1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 tbsp red food coloring
- 1 tsp white vinegar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Cream cheese frosting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder in a medium bowl.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, white vinegar, and vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until smooth.
- Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool for 10 minutes in the pans, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, frost one layer with cream cheese frosting, stack the second layer on top, and frost the entire cake.
Notes
For best results, ensure all ingredients are at room temperature. You can add sprinkles or edible glitter for a festive touch.
