- 1 box vanilla cake mix
- 1 box (3 oz) orange gelatin mix
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp orange zest
- 1 cup butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven according to the cake mix instructions. Grease and flour the cake pans.
- In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, orange gelatin mix, orange juice, vegetable oil, eggs, vanilla extract, and orange zest. Mix until well combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pans.
- Bake according to the cake mix instructions, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool completely before removing them from the pans.
- For the frosting, beat the butter until creamy, then frost the cooled cake layers.
- Decorate as desired and serve.
Notes
For a more intense orange flavor, add extra orange zest to the frosting. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
