Description
Deliciously gooey dessert bars that combine sweet and salty flavors with rich butter cake, creamy cream cheese, and a drizzle of salted caramel.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box Butter Yellow Cake mix
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup salted caramel topping (adjust to 1 cup for a 9×13 pan)
- 8 oz softened cream cheese
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Make the Crust: In a medium bowl, mix together the cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg. Stir until blended into a thick dough and press it evenly into the bottom of a greased 9×9-inch baking pan.
- Add the Salted Caramel Layer: Spread the salted caramel topping over the crust. If needed, microwave the caramel a few seconds for easier pouring.
- Prepare the Cream Cheese Layer: In another bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the 2 eggs, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract, mixing until creamy and smooth. Pour this mixture over the caramel layer.
- Bake: Place the baking pan in the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, until edges are golden brown and center is slightly jiggly.
- Cool and Serve: Let the bars cool to room temperature before cutting into squares.
Notes
For a smoother mixture, use room temperature cream cheese. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for an extra treat!
