Mushroom and Cheese Stuffed Chicken in Garlic Butter Sauce

Description

A delicious and comforting dish featuring tender chicken breasts filled with a rich mixture of mushrooms and cheese, all infused with garlic butter.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic and chopped mushrooms. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the mushrooms are soft and golden.
  4. Season with salt, pepper, and dried thyme.
  5. Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the cream cheese and shredded mozzarella cheese until melted and smooth.
  6. Cut a pocket into each chicken breast by slicing horizontally, but not all the way through.
  7. Stuff each chicken breast with the mushroom and cheese mixture. Secure the pocket with toothpicks.
  8. Season the stuffed chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  9. Place them in a baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  10. Once baked, remove the toothpicks, and serve the stuffed chicken hot. Garnish with fresh herbs, if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
