Ingredients

  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 jar (12 oz) caramel sauce
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tub (8 oz) Cool Whip or whipped topping
  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box)
  • 1/4 cup chocolate syrup
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the German chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions, then pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake as directed.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine sweetened condensed milk and caramel sauce until smooth and well blended.
  4. After the cake is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes. Use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the cake.
  5. Pour the caramel mixture generously over the warm cake, allowing it to seep into the holes. Let the cake cool completely.
  6. Once the cake is cooled, spread the whipped topping evenly across the top.
  7. Sprinkle the sweetened shredded coconut and chopped pecans over the whipped topping for texture and crunch.
  8. Melt the chocolate chips until smooth and drizzle over the top of the cake.
  9. Drizzle chocolate syrup over the top for an extra indulgent finish.
  10. Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld before serving.
