- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup water
- 4 large eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan, combine water and butter and bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Add flour and salt all at once, stirring vigorously until it forms a ball.
- Let the dough cool for about 5 minutes, then add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until shiny and smooth.
- Spoon or pipe mounds of dough onto the baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffed. Avoid opening the oven during baking.
- While puffs cool, whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla in a bowl until soft peaks form.
- Cool puffs completely before slicing. Fill with whipped cream and replace tops. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
Best enjoyed fresh, store unfilled puffs in the fridge for a day or freeze for up to a month.
