Description

A classic moist vanilla cake that is perfect for celebrations or a sweet treat at home.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until well combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, frost with vanilla buttercream frosting and serve.

Notes

Make sure your butter is softened but not melted for the best texture. Don’t overmix the batter to avoid a dense cake.
