  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (for frosting)
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the bowl. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until well combined.
  4. Carefully stir in the boiling water (the batter will be thin).
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Check if a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove them to wire racks to cool completely.
  8. For the frosting, beat together cocoa and butter in a bowl. Gradually add powdered sugar and milk, mixing until smooth.
  9. Frost the cooled cakes with the delicious chocolate fudge frosting.

Notes

Make sure all your ingredients are at room temperature for the best results. You can make the cake a day in advance and frost it before serving for a fresher taste.
