- 1/2 cup brewed espresso, cooled
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for the buttercream)
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp brewed espresso, cooled (for the buttercream)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (for the buttercream)
- Chocolate shavings (for garnish)
- Coffee beans (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a mini cake pan or muffin tin.
- In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients, alternating with the espresso and milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans or muffin cups.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool completely before frosting.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the butter until smooth for the buttercream. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing well.
- Add the brewed espresso and vanilla extract, beating until the frosting is fluffy and smooth.
- Spread or pipe the espresso buttercream onto the cooled mini cakes.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings and coffee beans for an elegant touch.

Notes
Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature before mixing. For increased coffee flavor, consider adding more espresso to the buttercream.
