Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mix the melted butter and sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, then mix well.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually combine the dry mixture into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. If desired, fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set and centers are slightly soft.
  9. Let cool for 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of espresso powder. Customize with nuts or white chocolate chips. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
