Mediterranean-style Potato Spinach and Tuna Bake

Description

A delicious and hearty one-pan dish featuring layers of potatoes, spinach, tuna, and rich Mediterranean flavors.


Ingredients

  • 1 kilogram potatoes, peeled and cut into 5mm slices
  • 200 grams chopped baby spinach leaves
  • 1 onion, finely sliced
  • 1 can of tuna, drained
  • 300 ml milk
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 100 grams grated cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Boil the potato slices in salted water for about 5-7 minutes until just tender. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and sauté until translucent.
  4. Add the chopped spinach to the skillet and cook until wilted.
  5. In a baking dish, layer half of the potato slices at the bottom.
  6. Add the spinach and onion mixture over the potatoes, then layer the drained tuna on top.
  7. Finish with the remaining potato slices.
  8. Pour the milk over the entire dish and season with salt and pepper.
  9. If using, sprinkle cheese on top.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbling.
  11. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve hot or warm with a side salad or crusty bread. Drizzle with olive oil or lemon for extra flavor.
