Description

Delightful tarts filled with earthy mushrooms, shallots, and creamy goat cheese, perfect for appetizers or snacks.


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for brushing)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 shallots, thinly sliced
  • 10 oz (280 g) cremini or mixed mushrooms
  • 4 oz goat cheese, crumbled
  • 2 tablespoons fresh herbs (such as thyme or rosemary)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into squares. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add shallots and cook until softened.
  4. Add sliced mushrooms, salt, and pepper, and cook until the mushrooms are browned and no moisture is left.
  5. Stir in fresh herbs and remove from heat.
  6. Spoon the mushroom mixture onto the center of each puff pastry square and top with crumbled goat cheese.
  7. Brush the edges of the pastry with the beaten egg.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge and reheat in the oven.
