Description
Delicious and satisfying patties combining the heartiness of potatoes with savory ground beef.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups mashed potatoes, cold
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, beaten egg, flour, salt, and pepper. Mix well until everything is combined.
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and chopped onion. Cook until the beef is browned, then drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the garlic powder and season with additional salt and pepper.
- Take a small amount of the potato mixture and flatten it in your hand.
- Place a spoonful of the cooked ground beef and a pinch of cheddar cheese in the center.
- Bring the edges of the potato mixture together to enclose the filling, then gently flatten it to form a patty. Dust lightly with flour.
- Heat a little more olive oil in the skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes per side or until they are golden brown and heated through.
- Serve hot with sour cream if desired.
Notes
Use cold mashed potatoes for the best texture. Experiment with different cheese varieties or add herbs for extra flavor.
