Ingredients

  • 200g butter (at room temperature)
  • 1 cup sugar (200g)
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups flour (300g)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk (240ml)
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 100g dark chocolate (melted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, adding the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture, alternating with milk.
  6. Divide the batter in half. Stir cocoa powder and melted chocolate into one half.
  7. Spoon the vanilla and chocolate batters into the pan alternately. Swirl with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let the cake cool before serving.

Notes

Serve with a dusting of powdered sugar, whipped cream, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
