Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons hot water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat softened butter until light and fluffy. Gradually add eggs, mixing well after each addition.
- Alternate adding the dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Stir in the vanilla extract until smooth.
- In a small bowl, mix cocoa powder with hot water until smooth. Set aside.
- Pour half of the vanilla cake batter into the prepared loaf pan. Drizzle the chocolate swirl mixture over the top of the vanilla batter. Pour the remaining vanilla cake batter over the chocolate swirl. Use a toothpick or skewer to gently swirl the batters together, creating a marbled effect.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Drizzle with melted chocolate or powdered sugar for added flair. Store in an airtight container for up to three days or freeze for up to three months.
