Description

A delightful Mexican dessert combining creamy flan and rich chocolate cake, known for its unique texture and magical transformation while baking.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 can condensed milk
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat until it turns into caramel. Pour this caramel into the bottom of a cake pan.
  3. In a blender, mix the condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, and vanilla. Blend until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Pour the blended mixture over the caramel in the cake pan.
  5. Place the cake pan in a larger baking dish filled with water (this is called a water bath).
  6. Bake for about 60-70 minutes or until the flan is set.
  7. Let it cool, then refrigerate for several hours or overnight.
  8. Once it is chilled, invert the cake pan onto a serving plate and enjoy!

Notes

Make sure to watch the caramel closely as it can quickly burn. Allow the dessert to cool completely before refrigerating for the best texture.
