Description
A delightful Mexican dessert combining creamy flan and rich chocolate cake, known for its unique texture and magical transformation while baking.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 can condensed milk
- 1 can evaporated milk
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat until it turns into caramel. Pour this caramel into the bottom of a cake pan.
- In a blender, mix the condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, and vanilla. Blend until the mixture is smooth.
- Pour the blended mixture over the caramel in the cake pan.
- Place the cake pan in a larger baking dish filled with water (this is called a water bath).
- Bake for about 60-70 minutes or until the flan is set.
- Let it cool, then refrigerate for several hours or overnight.
- Once it is chilled, invert the cake pan onto a serving plate and enjoy!
Notes
Make sure to watch the caramel closely as it can quickly burn. Allow the dessert to cool completely before refrigerating for the best texture.
