Luxurious Chocolate Hazelnut Cake

Description

A rich and decadent chocolate cake featuring the nutty crunch of hazelnuts, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 200g dark chocolate
  • 150g butter
  • 150g sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 100g flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 100g hazelnut praline
  • 50g chopped hazelnuts
  • 200ml cream
  • 50g cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Melt the dark chocolate and butter together in a bowl until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until well combined and smooth.
  4. Add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg and sugar mixture. Mix well.
  5. Gently fold in the flour and baking powder until combined.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased cake tin.
  7. Bake in the oven for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  9. Once cool, spread the hazelnut praline and chopped hazelnuts over the top of the cake.
  10. In a separate bowl, whip the cream with cocoa powder until soft peaks form. Layer this cream over the hazelnut topping.
  11. For decoration, add chocolate swirls and create a heart shape on top.
  12. Chill the cake in the refrigerator before serving.

Notes

For a sweeter flavor, hazelnut praline can be swapped with hazelnut spread. Let leftover cake sit at room temperature to soften before serving.
