A rich and decadent chocolate cake featuring the nutty crunch of hazelnuts, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients

- 200g dark chocolate
- 150g butter
- 150g sugar
- 4 eggs
- 100g flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 100g hazelnut praline
- 50g chopped hazelnuts
- 200ml cream
- 50g cocoa powder
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Melt the dark chocolate and butter together in a bowl until smooth.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until well combined and smooth.
- Add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg and sugar mixture. Mix well.
- Gently fold in the flour and baking powder until combined.
- Pour the batter into a greased cake tin.
- Bake in the oven for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool completely.
- Once cool, spread the hazelnut praline and chopped hazelnuts over the top of the cake.
- In a separate bowl, whip the cream with cocoa powder until soft peaks form. Layer this cream over the hazelnut topping.
- For decoration, add chocolate swirls and create a heart shape on top.
- Chill the cake in the refrigerator before serving.
Notes
For a sweeter flavor, hazelnut praline can be swapped with hazelnut spread. Let leftover cake sit at room temperature to soften before serving.
